Huanglian Mound

Huanglian Mound is located to the west of Huanglian Mound Village, Wangdian Township, south of the county town. It was designated as a county-level cultural relics protection unit in 1978. The 5th year of the Republic of China (1916) edition of the Huaiyang County Annals records: “Located 12 li south of the city, it was named after the former production of coptis, though some mistakenly associate it with the tomb of Huang Ba.” The mound currently stands about 12 meters high, with a length and width of 60 meters each. It is built from rammed earth and is relatively well-preserved. In 1970, locals excavated a royal tomb 0.5 kilometers south of the mound, unearthing one piece of Han dynasty jade burial suit. Most of it was lost, with only over 20 fragments remaining, which have been collected into the museum collection.
