Tanzishi Park

Tanzishi Park is a national AA-level tourist attraction.

Tanzishi Park is located at No. 113 Tandong Road, Tancheng County, Linyi City, Shandong Province. The first phase of the Tanzishi Park construction project was a key urban development initiative in Tancheng County for the year 2013. Stretching approximately 524 meters from Tandong Road in the east to the old stone bridge in the middle in the west, the park covers an area of 85,000 square meters.

Guided by the conceptual theme of “birds singing and flowers blooming in the new Tanzhi Lake, with a long and profound history of the Yan Kingdom,” the design philosophy of a composite urban commemorative park — “reviving the scenery of the ancient state, presenting a new vision of the old city” — was developed. The project was planned by the Architectural Design and Research Institute of Tsinghua University and constructed under the organization of the Tancheng County Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau. The project investment totaled 52.6 million yuan, including 20 million yuan for landscaping, 24 million yuan for resettlement buildings, and 8.6 million yuan for relocation compensation.

The environmental design of Tanzishi Park incorporates elements of ancient Tancheng culture. Landscape features such as the stone monuments “Confucius Learning from Tanzhi,” “Deer Milk to Honor Parents,” “King Zhao Asking About Officialdom,” and the traditional structure “A Hundred Birds Paying Homage to the Phoenix” allow visitors to understand the historical roots and essence of ancient Tancheng culture. Utilizing existing resources, the park recreates the scene “Golden Autumn of Silver Fruits,” featuring attractions such as the Flying Rainbow Bridge, the Deer Call Pavilion, the Willow Orioles of Yu Terrace, and the Ancient Tancheng Walls. A landscape archway has been built with dual meanings — displaying Dongyi culture on the right and encapsulating ancient Tancheng culture on the left — creating a peaceful resting space for residents amidst the bustling city. “Winding paths through lush woods feel almost wild, while curved banks with tender willows resemble a water town” is a true portrayal of Tanzishi Park.
