Simen Cave in Yishui, Linyi

Simen Cave is located at the western foot of Shimii Mountain, east of Simen Cave Village, Yuandongtou Township, Yishui. It is a natural limestone karst cave, stretching over 3,000 meters in length, with four entrances to the east, west, south, and north, hence the name Simen (Four Gates) Cave.

In 1999, Yishui Shanjiu Bronze Craft Co., Ltd. invited experts from the Department of Geography at Qufu Normal University to compile the “Yishui County Simen Cave Scenic Tourism Area Construction Planning Scheme.” According to the plan, the main development focused on four levels of attractions: inside the cave, outside the cave, Huixian Bath, and Yuxian Lake. Currently, the first and second phases of the project have been completed and opened to visitors. Inside Simen Cave, there is an abundance of stalactites, sky pots, Dragon Pool, Lotus Platform, as well as caves within caves and caves above caves. The cave is divided into a dry cave and a water cave. Visitors can take a boat through the water cave all the way to the North Gate. On the rock wall near the South Gate, the two large characters “Dongtian” (Cave Heaven) are inscribed, though the exact date of their carving is unknown. Nearby attractions include Dongbin Temple, Guanyin Garden, Crescent Lake, and a thousand-year-old ginkgo tree. Simen Cave boasts distinctive natural features, attracting a continuous stream of holidaymakers.
