Yishui Longquan Lake Leisure Tourism Area

Yishui Longquan Lake Leisure Tourism Area is a national AA-level tourist attraction.

Longquan Lake (Bashan Reservoir) is situated in the middle and upper reaches of the main stream of the Yi River in the Huai River basin, approximately 15 kilometers northwest of Yishui County. It derives its name from the deep, rumbling sound made by the springs as they gush from the Old Dragon Pool at the foot of Longquan Mountain. Legend says that the dragon maiden of Longquan Lake would often turn into a mermaid, leaping over the waves, dancing, singing, and cruising the shores of the lake, spreading kindness, fighting evil, and bringing peace to the people, winning their deep affection. In the late 1950s and early 1960s, to control flooding in the Yi River and enhance water storage and flood regulation capacity, over 100,000 workers from across the Linyi region labored at the Old Dragon Pool. They constructed a 2,400-meter-long river-blocking dam between Longquan Mountain and the opposite Wangzi Cliff, creating the large-scale Bashan Reservoir with a total storage capacity of 528 million cubic meters. In 2004, Longquan Lake was designated as a provincial-level water conservancy scenic area.

Longquan Mountain is located at the confluence of the Yi River and its tributary, the Nuanyang River. With an elevation of 202 meters and covering an area of 150 mu, since 2015, leveraging its premium natural features—including mountains, water, islands, and water conservancy projects—and using Longquan Lake as a backdrop, efforts have been made to actively develop the Longquan Lake leisure and resort zone. Continuous upgrades to the ecological environment of Longquan Mountain have been carried out, along with the construction of a leisure tourism area, providing visitors with a garden-style recreational destination.
