China’s Hometown of Inner Painting Art Exhibition Hall

China’s Hometown of Inner Painting Art Exhibition Hall is located on Renmin Middle Road in Hengshui, Hebei Province. It is 2 kilometers from Hengshui Railway Station and 8 kilometers from the Shijiazhuang–Huanghua Expressway entrance. It is currently the only professional exhibition hall in China and abroad dedicated to showcasing the art of inner painting. The China’s Hometown of Inner Painting Art Exhibition Hall was established with substantial investment by Wang Xisan, a master of the Ji School of inner painting, and his son Wang Ziyong. The exhibition hall boasts nearly 2,000 square meters of artistic space. Since its opening to the public in 2003, it has successfully hosted nearly 100 large-scale exhibitions.

The Hengshui Inner Painting Exhibition Hall has four floors in total, focusing on displaying six major types of snuff bottles in ancient China: glassware, jade, organic materials, metal, ceramics, and inner paintings. It comprehensively showcases this pocket-sized art form that embodies a fusion of various traditional Chinese crafts. The first floor serves as an integrated space for display, viewing, and sales, mainly introducing to visitors the historical development of tobacco – snuff – snuff bottles and the art of inner painting; explaining the different schools of inner painting snuff bottles and the rise and current status of the Ji School; presenting Hengshui’s inner painting artists and innovative works, with a special focus on showcasing the finest inner painting artworks created by Master Wang Xisan throughout most of his life. The second floor and above house multifunctional exhibition halls featuring calligraphy, traditional paintings, antiques, and unusual stones.
