Beijing’s Second Ring Road Urban Greenway Landscaping Project
The Second Ring Road Urban Greenway involves four urban districts—Dongcheng, Xicheng, Chaoyang, and Fengtai—with a total length of 87.32 kilometers and a green space area of 115 hectares. In 2013, 26.2 kilometers of the Yincheng Jiandu Greenway in Xicheng District were completed. The 2014 project plans to plant 13,400 new trees, build 61 kilometers of new roads, and pave 347,061 square meters. Five rest stations will be included.
The municipal investment portion of the 2014 Second Ring Road Greenway project received approval in March of this year, covering a total length of approximately 61 kilometers. Currently, the district-level investment sections have commenced full-scale construction, with Dongcheng District having completed 15% of the total workload and Xicheng District completing 20%.
