The downtown area of central Taichung primarily encompasses the old town district, which was once a thriving and prosperous urban center. However, as the city developed westward, this historic area gradually declined. To revive interest, the municipal government launched an online poll to select the top ten attractions in the central district, attracting nearly a thousand residents to actively cast their votes online. The "Love River Waterfront" claimed first place among the top ten attractions with 33% of the vote, while the Grass Jelly Road (Caowu Dao) and the Old Taichung Train Station secured second and third places respectively.
