Haizi River

The Haizi River is located in the eastern part of Ningyang County, running through Hua Feng Town and Ci Yao Town. Its source is in the hills east of Lvguan in Hua Feng Town and the mountains south of Shenjiazhuang, passing south of Qinghouzhuang in Ci Yao Town, then crossing the Beijing-Shanghai Railway bridge to the northwest, and flowing north along the western side of the Beijing-Shanghai Railway line. It receives water from the northern foothills of Phoenix Mountain to the west, and from Jue Mountain and Lugu Mountain to the east, then flows north again, collecting water from the eastern foothills of Cai Mountain, passing between Ci Yao West Village and Xitai Ping Village, crossing the Ci Yao Bridge, then turning northwest east of Qiantingmiao Village, passing east of Houhaizi Village, and finally joining the Dawen River to the northwest of Qijiazhuang New Village. The upper reaches of the river feature a winding course and were once called Taiping River. After 1949, it was renamed Haizi River due to the presence of the villages Qianhaizi and Houhaizi on its downstream western side.

Among all the reservoirs in the upper reaches of the Haizi River, Qianluguan Reservoir stands out for its beauty. The riverbanks are like a lush green carpet surrounding the reservoir, reflecting the water as emerald green; the riverside vegetation is abundant, with tall poplars and shorter creeping junipers and chrysanthemums; the water is teeming with life, with dense growths of reeds, calamus, and other aquatic plants near the shore. From a distance, one can take in the panoramic view of green mountains, clear waters, lush trees, and serene valleys — vast, misty, and ethereal.

The riverbed is covered with pebbles of all sizes, and as the water rushes over them, it creates a lively roar. The woods along the banks are lush and upright, the water is crystal clear and emerald, and sunlight filters through gaps in the foliage, casting shimmering ripples on the surface — a vivid display of the river’s living rhythm and the charm of sunlight.
