Shangzhuang Site

The Shangzhuang Site is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The Shangzhuang Site is located on an elevated earthen mound 20 meters east of Shangzhuang Village, approximately 1.5 kilometers southwest of Chiping County in Liaocheng City. It is said that in ancient times, the Nengren Temple and Hongmen Temple were built here. In the autumn of 1975 and the spring of the following year, archaeologists conducted two phases of excavation at the site, uncovering an area of about 750 square meters. They unearthed four to five hundred relatively intact artifacts from the Han Dynasty, Shang and Zhou Dynasties, Longshan Culture, and Dawenkou Culture. This site provides important physical material for the study of Shang and Zhou cultures during the Neolithic Age. In December 1977, it was listed as a Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit of Shandong Province.
