The Ancient Building of Boping

The Ancient Building of Boping was first built during the Song Dynasty and renovated during the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty. The structure is supported by four large red wooden pillars, with two stories and upturned eaves adorned with brackets. The entire building is elegant and graceful, simple yet dignified, featuring a unique style and exquisite architecture. It predates the Guangyue Tower in Liaocheng by more than 300 years and has become an iconic landmark of Boping. Unfortunately, the ancient building was destroyed in the early stages of the Cultural Revolution.

To rescue historical and cultural heritage as well as tourism resources, the Party Committee and government of Boping Town decided to accelerate the restoration and construction of cultural landscapes: rebuilding the Ancient Building of Boping, followed by the development of an antique-style street, and the construction of the Yangshan Academy and Nanlian Pond Park, among others, aiming to create a new image of “Charming Boping with Water Charm and Classical Elegance.” The Ancient Building of Boping, funded by donations from all sectors of society, was completed on May 18, 2008, after one year of construction.
