Dongshan Chan Temple Scenic Area

Dongshan Chan Temple Scenic Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction and a cultural tourism destination.

Dongshan Chan Temple Scenic Area is a Buddhist activity site approved by the People’s Government of Shandong Province and registered in accordance with the law. It covers an area of 25 mu, with a total investment of 56 million yuan. The main structures within the temple include the mountain gate, the Mahavira Hall — a front-facing-west, double-eave hip-and-gable traditional-style building, as well as service facilities such as wing rooms, lecture halls, dining halls, and reception rooms arranged symmetrically along the north-south axis. The Mahavira Hall houses a 6.4-meter-tall statue of Sakyamuni Buddha seated in a solemn and dignified posture. Dongshan Chan Temple Scenic Area has been honored as a national AA-level tourist attraction and one of the “100 Must-Visit Places in Shandong,” adding a beautiful site for spiritual cultivation in Juancheng and serving as a bond linking Juancheng with the outside world and a window for opening up to the world.

In recent years, under the leadership of the county Party committee and county government, the scenic area has strictly followed the standards of the National Tourism Attraction Quality Rating and Evaluation, improving supporting facilities such as the visitor service center, parking lots, tourist toilets, scenic signage, directional signs, warning signs, and highway traffic sign systems. The area has strengthened high-quality services and standardized management, resulting in a significant improvement in comprehensive reception capacity and service level.

On December 8, Dongshan Chan Temple Scenic Area successfully passed the on-site inspection and acceptance by the acceptance team of the Provincial Tourism Quality Rating Evaluation Committee. Recently, the Provincial Tourism Attraction Quality Rating Evaluation Committee announced that Dongshan Chan Temple Scenic Area has been officially upgraded to a national AAA-level tourist attraction, further expanding the scale of AAA-level tourist attractions in our county.
