Fenghuangzhou Civic Park

Fenghuangzhou Civic Park is located in the Fenghuangzhou area of the Honggutan New District, Nanchang City. The park stretches 3.7 kilometers from the Bayi Bridge in the south to the Ganjiang River Bridge in the north. It has a planned total area of approximately 34.5 hectares, with a total investment of about 160 million yuan. The green planting area covers around 210,000 square meters, featuring the planned planting of 76 species of trees and shrubs, including osmanthus, camphor, hackberry, and cherry blossoms, totaling 5,800 plants, and the area of low shrubs is about 33,000 square meters. The paved square area is approximately 90,000 square meters. The design includes four public toilets, and supporting facilities such as a small train warehouse and a café, covering an area of about 660 square meters.

In terms of planning and design, the park follows the concept of integrating regional characteristics, highlighting local cultural features, and creating a charming riverside landscape. It forms a master plan layout of "three horizontal and four vertical" sections, which can be summarized as "three veins and three nodes."

Three Veins

The first vein is the Green Vein, characterized by flowing public spaces that enhance the distinctive boundaries of the riverside area and create public spaces that improve activities for surrounding residents.

The second vein is the Artery, characterized by flowing train tracks. Inspired by the original Nanchang Niuhang Railway Station in Fenghuangzhou, a 3.5-kilometer sightseeing train track has been constructed, linking the history of Nanchang’s development like a string of pearls. The train departs from the Ganjiang River Bridge, passing through distinct seasonal landscape belts, and slowly makes its way toward a dynamic, diverse cultural landscape.

The third vein is the River Vein, characterized by the riverside walking path along the river, which enhances the landscape features of the riverside area and creates a continuous riverside scenic and dedicated viewing route, forming an orderly waterfront landscape belt.

Three Nodes

The first major node — Niuhang Railway Station. Centered around the historical story of the "Nanchang Uprising" that took place at Niuhang Railway Station, it forms a base with a focus on red culture and the education of revolutionary traditions.

The second major node — Waterfront Plaza. Taking full advantage of the node's relatively open space and convenience for gathering and dispersing, it forms a riverside landscape node themed around a public leisure and entertainment plaza and flower stands with distinct seasonal features.

The third major node — Riverside Green Space. Adapting to local conditions, this long and narrow landscape strip has been developed into a first-class linear green space, forming a riverside landscape node with lush trees along the shore, staggered landscapes, and meandering shaded walkways. Additionally, nearly 40,000 square meters of riverside wetland park have been planted in the river beach area.
