Situated in the middle section of Mangdong Canyon within the Shuiyuan area, its glacial-era landform is the first of its kind in China. The canyon is flanked by towering, densely forested mountains with constantly winding paths. Its geological structure is highly unique, composed of white crystal granite and blue crystal granite, making it of great scientific research value. The canyon features a myriad of peculiar potholes, caves, and stone forests, stretching a total length of 6.5 kilometers, and is called "Mangdong" by locals. In 2005, investors from the Shiniuzhai Scenic Development Zone in Hunan put millions of yuan into building the Shuiyuan Mangdong Canyon Rafting tourism project, which was fully equipped and officially opened in 2007. To date, it has welcomed over 100,000 visitors. The starting point is at the headwaters of the Miluo River in Shuiyuan Township, Jiangxi Province, while the endpoint is in Daping Township, Pingjiang County, Hunan Province. A single river connects two provinces, offering visitors the genuine experience of “rafting across two provinces.” The Mangdong Canyon rafting route features a total drop of over 100 meters, with the maximum drop exceeding 10 meters—the highest in China. Completing the full course takes approximately two hours. The Mangdong Canyon river is twisting and turbulent, with hundreds of rapids and deep pools. The waterway contains countless smooth, uniquely shaped caves and variously formed rocks—some gently winding, others sharp as blades. Throughout the rafting journey, thrills and excitement abound, making it an excellent destination for adventure, tourism, and leisure.
