Wumei Mountain Scenic Area

Wumei Mountain is the main peak of the Jiuling Mountain Range, with an elevation of 1,715 meters. It is the highest peak in both Jiujiang City and the Jiuling Mountain Range, and is known as the “Number One Peak of Northern Jiangxi.” The area where it is located, the Maozhu Mountain Forest Farm, is one of the eight largest forest farms in Jiangxi Province. It still retains over 10,000 acres of pristine secondary forest, earning it the title of “the last piece of virgin forest in northwestern Jiangxi.” The mountain is primarily composed of granite and boasts several well-known attractions, such as the “Iron General General’s Hall,” a guardian shrine for the mountain; the timeless “Sisters’ Bridge”; the mysterious “Eight Immortals Chess Cave”; the widely celebrated “Cold Widow’s Tomb”; the spectacular “White Cloth Pit Waterfall,” which resembles a Milky Way cascading from the sky; and the precious, yet unreachable medicinal herb “Dendrobium.” The forest coverage of Wumei Mountain exceeds 97%, and it is also home to millennium-old rare trees such as ginkgo and yew. The traditional folk percussion music “Eighteen Variations of Gongs and Drums” is actively performed in the surrounding areas at the foot of the mountain and is one of the few surviving forms of folk music in Jiangxi, classified as an “intangible cultural heritage.” Currently, Wumei Mountain is in the process of applying for national forest park status.
