Chengfang Scenic Area

The Chengfang Dongjin Reservoir Tourist Area features lush mountains and clear waters, fresh air, and a pleasant climate that is warm in winter and cool in summer. Ancient trees reach skyward and the waters sparkle under the sun, earning it the reputation of “Little Guilin.” The reservoir area spans 30,000 mu with a water storage capacity of 800 million cubic meters, and the water is of high quality, with visibility over 7 meters and free from pollutants, classified as a national first-class water body. The reservoir area is surrounded by emerald-green hills and vast blue waters, accompanied by the pleasant sounds of birds.

There are 12 isolated islands surrounded by water on all four sides, the largest nearly 1,000 mu in size; more than 100 islands are surrounded by water on three sides and backed by mountains on one. The Liánfēng Shūwū (also known as the Xu Family Mansion), a provincial-level key cultural relic protection unit built during the fourth year of the Tongzhi reign in the Qing Dynasty, adds a cultural attraction to the reservoir area. Located within the reservoir area, the Wǔdì Diàn (Temple of the Five Emperors) is said to be the place where Marshal Peng Dehuai once prayed to the Five Emperor Bodhisattvas before leading his troops into battle—and his wishes were later fulfilled. The Chengfang Dongdong Reservoir Tourist Area is an ideal destination for sightseeing, summer retreats, holiday vacations, fishing, and hunting.
