Secluded Valley Scenic Corridor

Verdant peaks rise before Tao’s fence, rain-washed trails gleam with thick dew.

Flowers and grass bloom in purple splendor all year round, while a stroke of rosy cloud tints the scene red

Pine trees echo with cries of cranes and egrets, woodcutters’ songs resound at dusk.

With staff in hand, I return late from the western hills, seeking inspiration for poetry over a cup of wine.

These are ancient verses praising the Secluded Valley Scenic Corridor. The corridor consists of the stream, bamboo groves, oddly-shaped rocks, and secluded valleys stretching from Fulong Temple to Huanglong Pit. Lush bamboo on both sides of the valley blocks out the sun, while ancient trees tower overhead, their branches and leaves thriving, entwined with vines. From the treetops come the chirps of birds and the darting flights of cranes and egrets. The mountain streams are dotted with rugged rocks, and crystal-clear springs babble throughout. Flowers bloom in all seasons, especially a rich variety of orchids whose fragrance drifts through the valley. The valley is also abundant in wild fruits such as bayberries, hawthorns, kiwis, and loquats. Among the grass and woods, rare wild animals like deer, roe deer, river deer, rabbits, wild boars, bamboo partridges, and pheasants roam freely, creating a primitive and uniquely beautiful natural landscape.
