A cave as big as 13 football fields！ 40,000-year-old human relics in Niah National Park

Nature lovers visiting Malaysian Borneo often make a special trip to Niah National Park. Covering an area of 3,103 hectares, the park was established to protect the “Niah Cave,” which is as large as 13 football fields. Archaeologists have discovered evidence of human habitation dating back 40,000 years here, and the rock paintings on the cave walls reveal a span from the Paleolithic to the Neolithic Age.

One of the most remarkable sights in Niah National Park is the colony of bats and swiftlets that reside here. At sunset, you can witness thousands of swiftlets returning to their nests and thousands of bats venturing out to the forest to forage. The two groups crossing paths in the sky resemble two massive clouds — an awe-inspiring spectacle you shouldn’t miss.
