The water of the Blue Lagoon is rich in minerals such as silicon and silicon dioxide due to long-term dissolution of minerals from the rock layers. It has fatigue-relieving effects and also forms white silica mud with therapeutic and skin-beautifying properties. Additionally, because it is located near a local power plant, the steam often shrouds the entire Blue Lagoon in mist, sometimes reducing visibility to just 1 meter, making being in the lake feel like being in a fairyland.
