The Red Army Maple is a classic red tourism attraction.

The Ten-Thousand-Year Osmanthus and Red Army Maple

Along both sides of the path from Huanglongkeng to Yangjiawu, the area is densely forested with towering ancient trees of diverse species, predominantly broadleaf forests, complemented by coniferous species such as pine and fir, as well as bamboo groves, forming a naturally exquisite ecological landscape. Among the many rare and ancient trees, over ten osmanthus and maple trees have reached a thousand years in age, with one ancient osmanthus tree reaching the age of ten thousand years and boasting a trunk diameter of over one meter, making it a living fossil among ancient trees. In the maple grove along the mountain trail of Huanglongkeng, three ancient maple trees stand side by side, their trunks straight and reaching toward the sky. During the 1930s, Red Army soldiers of the Northeastern Jiangxi Soviet often frequented Longquan Mountain and would frequently practice and rest under these trees. As a result, local residents affectionately refer to these three ancient maples as the “Red Army Trees.”
