The Qunying Reservoir Water Conservancy Scenic Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction and a national water conservancy scenic area.

The Qunying Reservoir Water Conservancy Scenic Area in Wannian County is built around the medium-sized Qunying Reservoir of Wannian County. The scenic area covers an area of 5.85 square kilometers, including a water area of 1.52 square kilometers. The reservoir construction began in October 1971 and was largely completed and put into operation in 1973. The Qunying Reservoir currently serves mainly for flood control, drought relief, farmland irrigation, and as a water source for urban supply. The reservoir has a catchment area of 20.6 square kilometers, including an inflow area of 140.15 square kilometers. Its total storage capacity is 10.45 million cubic meters, with an effective storage capacity of 7.89 million cubic meters, a verified flood control capacity of 2.02 million cubic meters, and a dead storage capacity of 450,000 cubic meters. It is designed to irrigate 15,000 mu of farmland, with an actual irrigation area of 13,600 mu.

Nestled at the heart of the scenic area lies Taoli Village, the hometown of the Tao family in the south with a rich heritage of agrarian Zen culture. The area boasts pristine lake-and-mountain views untouched by dust, serene lakeside paths flanked by undulating hills and rows of white-walled, black-tiled houses nestled within lush greenery. Gazing into the distance, cheerful birds skim across the water’s surface or soar through the sky, while in the distant clouds, misty waters stretch endlessly—offering poetic vistas that captivate and linger in the heart.
