Zhai Shan Site

The Zhai Shan Site is a protected cultural heritage site of Jiangxi Province.

The Wannian Zhai Shan Site was discovered during a cultural relics survey in 1982 and identified as an early Shang Dynasty cultural site. In 1983, the Jiangxi Provincial Institute of Archaeology conducted a trial excavation at the site, unearthing over a thousand collected artifacts, mainly categorized into production tools and household utensils. In 2005, the Wannian Cultural Relics Bureau also discovered human fingerprints dating back over 3,600 years on artifacts unearthed from the site.

The discovery of this site provides new data for dating the early stage of the Wannian-type Shang culture and offers clues for further distinguishing materials between the Erligang period and the Xia Dynasty within the Longshan-era materials of Jiangxi.
