Xiacaibu Xingwang Bridge

Xiacaibu Xingwang Bridge is a cultural relic protection unit of Jiangxi Province.

The Xingwang Bridge in Xiacaibu Village, Huyun Township, Wannian County, Jiangxi Province, built during the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty, is located on the Yujin River in Xiacaibu Village, Liuxia Village Committee, Huyun Township, Wannian County. In ancient times, it was a vital route leading east to Leping, north to Poyang, and west to Yugan. According to the inscription on the bridgehead stele, funds were raised in the seventh year of the Qianlong reign (1742), and construction began in the seventeenth year but was later halted. It was not until the forty-seventh year (1782), in the winter, that reconstruction was completed. The bridge is 48 meters long, 6 meters wide, with a span of 16 meters and a height of 25 meters. It is a single-arch stone bridge constructed from red plum hill granite, with enough clearance underneath for small boats to pass. The bridge deck is paved with bluestone slabs, and both sides are equipped with 1-meter-wide, half-meter-high stone railings. The sides of the bridge are inscribed with “Xiacaibu, established in the seventh year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty, completed in the forty-seventh year, master builder Hong Shengxiang.” The eastern side of the bridge is inscribed with the three characters “Xingwang Bridge.” Originally, there were temples and a pagoda near the bridge, both demolished in 1958. Having withstood over 200 years, the ancient bridge remains well-preserved and is still passable by vehicles, demonstrating its sturdiness and the exceptional craftsmanship of ancient bridge-building. Viewed from afar, Xingwang Bridge exudes an antique charm and offers a unique sense of nostalgia, possessing high value for appreciation, practical use, and research. Xingwang Bridge was designated as a county-level cultural relic protection unit by the Wannian County People's Government in 1990.
