Elderly Peak

To the east and slightly below the Three-Tiered Tortoise, there stands an isolated stone peak rising about 51 meters from the ground, resembling an elderly person. With a well-proportioned figure, as if carved and polished, it sits in a bowing, meditative pose with serene composure, like an otherworldly immortal or Taoist sage—hence it is also called Taoist Peak. This is called “the first view.” The shape of this peak varies greatly when seen from different angles. When viewed straight on from west to east, at the junction where the top stone meets the middle section—also the connection between the “head” and the “body” of Elderly Peak—you can see three holes. The view forms a wonder of “hanging yet not falling, leaning yet not dropping.” If you focus solely on the “head” of Elderly Peak, it vividly resembles an ancient cooking cauldron, referred to as the “Three-Legged Tripod,” which is “the second view.” When viewed as a whole, it closely resembles a warrior clad in helmet and armor, thus it can be called “Warrior Peak.” From the same angle, when viewed from right to left, it can also take on the appearance of a dolphin playing with a ball. Standing at the western viewing spot and looking from high to low, it strikingly resembles a village woman carrying a huge basket on her back, returning home loaded with harvest—this is “the third view.”
