Former Site of the Xinjiang Military and Political School

Located in Wujiadun, Qigong Town, Yiyang County. On October 25, 1929, leaders including Fang Zhimin, Shao Shiping, and Huang Dao established the Xinjiang Military and Political School in Wujiadun, Ji District, Yiyang. In the history of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army, this was one of the earlier and more formally organized military and political schools. In July 1930, with the development of the Soviet area, the Xinjiang Special District was renamed the Northeastern Jiangxi Special District, and the Xinjiang Military and Political School was accordingly renamed the Pengyang Military and Political School. The school site was relocated from Wujiadun to Huangjiayuan, also in Ji District, Yiyang. In February 1931, it moved again to Geyuan Town, Hengfeng County. By the end of 1932, the Northeastern Jiangxi Soviet Area was renamed the Min-Zhe (Wan)-Jiangxi Soviet Area, and the Pengyang Military and Political School was restructured as the Fifth Branch of the Red Army School, remaining active until the end of 1934.
