The Tomb of Zhou Zhilao is a cultural relic protection unit of Jiangxi Province.

The Tomb of Zhou Zhilao is located in Yiyang County and dates from the sixth year of the Qiandao era of the Song Dynasty (1170).

【Construction Control Zone】: Extending 20 meters east, west, and north to the surrounding hillsides from the protected area, and 5 meters south to the river. Maximum construction height: 4 meters. Area: 2960.31 square meters. The protected zone extends 20 meters east, west, and north to the hillsides, and 5 meters south to the river. Building height limit: 4 meters. Area: 2960.31 square meters.

After passing the imperial examination and earning the title of Jinshi, Zhou Zhilao was appointed as Simishi (an official rank) of Huzhou (present-day Huzhou City, Zhejiang). In the early years of the Jianyan era (1127), he followed Empress Dowager Longyou to Jiangxi, and later returned to Kuaiji (present-day Shaoxing City, Zhejiang) to pay respects. Due to his stepmother Liu’s illness, he requested to return home to care for her, and was then transferred to serve as Deputy Magistrate of Yihuang County in Jiangxi. At that time, Yihuang was in chaos, with disbanded soldiers roaming the area and widespread fear among residents. Upon taking office, Zhou Zhilao reasoned with the troublemakers about the consequences of their actions and the principles of ethics. The ringleaders were executed as a warning, while the rest submitted to authority. Local residents even painted his portrait and built a memorial temple for him.
