Yuantou Village — Surrounded by mountains on three sides with terraced fields winding around the ancient village, white-walled houses with black tiles nestled among ancient trees and streams, and a simple, unspoiled local culture, this is arguably the most beautiful small mountain village in Wuyuan, yet remains hidden deep in the mountains and unknown to many. It’s a perfect destination for an in-depth exploration of Wuyuan.

Located about 3 kilometers from Xiyuan Village, Yuantou Village lets you wander amid terraced fields on three sides, ancient towering trees forming a dense forest, the gently flowing Yuantou Stream, and village houses nestled against the mountains and by the water — making it a quintessential example of Wuyuan’s most beautiful mountain villages.

Yuantou Village is one of the most off-the-beaten-path attractions in Wuyuan and has never been developed. Only the occasional photographers from Shanghai and other places are fascinated by it. This is a mountain village hidden among ancient camphor trees. Except for the dirt path along the ridge, both the ascent and descent are along mountain paths paved with bluestone slabs.
