Ancient Workshop Complex at Liujiatang

The Ancient Workshop Complex at Liujiatang is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Jiangxi Province.

Ancient Workshop Complex at Liujiatang (including the ancient workshops at No. 61 and 63 Liujiaxia Tang, No. 14 Taipingqiao, the kiln-brick workshop wall, and two kiln-brick ramps)

The Liujiatang Workshop Complex consists of buildings dating from the late Qing Dynasty to the Republican era. Most of these workshops were constructed atop several-meter-high accumulations of kiln waste, located in an area that was densely packed with dragon kilns during the Ming, Qing, and Republican periods. The internal frameworks and layouts of the workshops are mostly well-preserved, exhibiting strong authenticity and visual appeal. This is currently the best-preserved workshop complex discovered in Jingdezhen’s old urban area.

The Liujiatang Workshop Complex, covering an area of approximately 4,600 square meters, is bordered by Liujiatang to the south, Zhejiang Road to the north, and Yanjiang East Road to the west. It consists of buildings dating from the late Qing Dynasty to the Republican era. Most of these workshops were constructed atop several-meter-high accumulations of kiln waste, located in an area that was densely packed with dragon kilns during the Ming, Qing, and Republican periods. The exterior walls, retaining walls, and ramps of the workshop complex are largely built from kiln bricks, bluestone, and kiln slag. The internal frameworks and layouts of the workshops are mostly well-preserved, exhibiting strong authenticity and visual appeal. This is currently the best-preserved workshop complex discovered in Jingdezhen’s old urban area.
