Japan's "Kamen Rider" Takes Stage to Urge Travelers to Join Seed-Sowing Work Exchange Holidays

As the first anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake approaches, the well-known Japanese NGO NGOEarth, in gratitude for the immediate and heartfelt aid and concern extended by our Taiwanese friends after the disaster, has turned its appreciation into concrete action by launching a "Purify the Land" event in Taiwan. The "Indigenous Land Seed-Sowing Festival" is scheduled to take place on March 10 in Nan'ao Township, Yilan County.

The leader of NGOEarth’s "Pure Land Kamen Squad" stated that they hope to encourage Japanese travelers in Taiwan to set aside 1–2 days between March 10 and March 31 during the "Indigenous Land Seed-Sowing Festival" to come to Nan'ao and participate in field labor such as sowing and transplanting rice seedlings. This is a tangible way to give back to Taiwan for its support and assistance to Japan’s post-earthquake recovery over the past year. This action also aims to inspire and encourage more people to join the movement toward natural farming, clean food, and pristine land in Taiwan. International travelers can engage in work exchange or farmstay programs here—working as agricultural interns in the fields while enjoying an in-depth, fixed-location travel experience. Taiwanese residents interested are also welcome to sign up.

On the day of the event, Reverend Lin Ching-Tai, the lead actor of the film "Seediq Bale," will also lead elementary school students from Jin Yue who previously performed at the Green Expo, using traditional Atayal songs and dances to offer blessings for participants of the "Indigenous Land Seed-Sowing Festival" and for the land cultivated through natural farming methods. A traditional "Indigenous Farmer’s Lunch Box" will also be provided at noon, allowing everyone to experience the taste of a lunch enjoyed by farmers after a day’s work. Chen Changjiang, head of Nan’ao Natural Fields, said that the one-day rice transplanting activity at the "Indigenous Land Seed-Sowing Festival" involves six hours of fieldwork, with free lunch and dinner plus bicycle rental provided.
