The most distinctive feature of Pine Waves at Tianmen is its wells, the most famous of which is the Sacred Well. As the saying goes, “High mountains have good water.” Look here — the water is high, beautiful, extraordinary, perilous, elegant, and cascades down the ravine before plunging into a large pit. This pit resembles a huge well, the very place where the “Three Kings” once met, hence it is called the “Sacred Well,” and this mountain is thus known as “Sacred Well Mountain.” There is a well located atop the summit, rarely visited by humans. It is said that if you drop heavy objects such as metal into the well, they will float, while light objects like cloth will sink straight to the bottom. When people pray for rain, if their hearts are not sincere, the items they throw in will be pushed back out and not accepted; but if they are accepted, the prayer will surely be answered. Yipo Well: In the Chenjiawan Yangyuan Peak area of the Sacred Well Mountain Scenic Zone, there is another well called Yipo Well, also known as Guannv Well. The well is over 60 square meters wide and can accommodate more than a hundred people. Its shape is similar to that of the Sacred Well, with water rushing down directly from the Yangyuan Pit stone gully, forming a waterfall over 20 meters high. There is also a pile of cobblestone-like rocks in the well that rise above the water surface — this is where drought victims kneel and pray for rain. The abundance of “wells” here is indeed one of its most remarkable features.
