As spring blossoms and flowers bloom, it’s also the peak season for sweet and tangy strawberries. The Neihu Strawberry Season begins on March 8; its convenient location allows residents in northern Taiwan to easily reach the strawberry farms via public transport such as the Xia No. 2 and Xia No. 3 buses for a fun strawberry-picking experience.

The Neihu strawberry season generally runs from December to April each year. Currently, there are nine sightseeing strawberry farms located around Bishan Road (in the Baishihu area) and along Dahu Street. Unlike the open-field cultivation method used in Miaoli’s Dahu, most strawberry farms in Neihu use greenhouses and covered trellises. In addition,besides enjoying the fun of strawberry picking in the Baishihu area of Neihu, visitors can also take in the beauty of the mountain countryside, including the “Bi Lake Trail,” “Baishihu Suspension Bridge,” “Spring-Autumn Trail,” “Couple Trees,” “Concentric Circle Wetland,” “Pitou,” and “Dragon Boat Rock.”

The Bureau of Industrial Development stated that the strawberry season opening event willbe held at 9:30 AM on March 8, 2014 (103 year in Taiwan calendar)at the strawberry farming area on Bishan Road in Neihu District. The site will feature agricultural product stalls, along with organic farming promotion efforts, including an organic produce section and vendors who are preparing to join organic production selling their goods. Locally grown organic vegetables, strawberries, and seasonal produce from high-quality Neihu farmers will be available, allowing Taipei residents to enjoy strawberry picking while also purchasing organic vegetables.

At the opening event in front of No. 40 Bishan Road, lion dance performances, a limited-edition strawberry love sale, and the distribution of NT$50 vouchers will be offered. Visitors can use the vouchers to get a NT$50 discount on agricultural products. There will also be special prices on strawberry Q noodles and promotions for purchases over certain amounts.

1. Baishihu Community:

◆ Take the MRT to Neihu Station, then transfer to the Xia No. 2 bus at Section 2, Neihu Road.
◆ Take a bus to “Huguang Market” Station, then transfer to the Xia No. 2 bus next to China Medical University Hospital.

2. Dahu Street Area:

◆ Take the Xia No. 3 bus, available at Exit 4 of Kunyang Station on the MRT or at Huguang Market Station in Neihu Lake.

1. Baishihu Community

◆ From Section 3 of Neihu Road, turn onto Bishan Road to arrive.

2. Dahu Street Area

◆ From the Dazhi direction, take Wende Road, connect to Section 4 of Chenggong Road, then turn onto Dahu Villa Street and then Dahu Street.
◆ From the Minquan Tunnel direction, take Section 5 of Chenggong Road, turn onto Dahu Villa Street, then Dahu Street.
◆ Take National Freeway No. 1, exit at Chenggong Interchange, then take Section 3 of Chenggong Road, connect to Section 4, turn onto Dahu Villa Street, and then Dahu Street.
