Shuangkou Port Floating and Sinking Dam

Shuangkou Port Floating and Sinking Dam is located in Nijia Shuangkou Village, Bailu Town, Yuehu District, Yingtan City. It is approximately 50 meters long and 30 meters wide, built in the 1970s, and is one of only two floating and sinking dams constructed in China after the founding of the People's Republic. The dam is made of reinforced concrete with a hollow interior—when filled with water, it sinks; when drained, it floats. On both riverbanks, there is a control room housing the mechanical devices that regulate the dam’s buoyancy. On the east bank, there is a gate that can be lifted to divert water into irrigation channels when needed. This is the first discovery of this type of dam structure in our province and holds significant value for the study of modern floating and sinking dam designs as well as the historical development of Yingtan’s water conservancy facilities.
