When speaking of Danqian, one cannot help but recall the moving poem “Inscription on the Wall at Mount Guazhou, Jiangxi” by Xin Qiji, a renowned patriotic statesman of his time. Danqian is a border town in the southern part of Wan’an County, Ji’an City, a base area of the Jinggangshan Revolutionary Base. It borders the Gan River to the east, adjoins Shadi Town of Ganzhou City to the south, and neighbors Xiacao Town and Shaping Town of the same county to the northwest. It is located 60 kilometers from Ganzhou Railway Station, 18 kilometers from National Highway 105, 80 kilometers from Jinggangshan Airport, 42 kilometers from Wan’an County Town, and 20 kilometers from the Gan-Guang Expressway interchange. The township covers a total area of 115.42 square kilometers, comprising 5 administrative villages and 97 villager groups, with a total population of 12,500.

The terrain of Danqian is mainly hilly, with mountainous areas spanning 130,833 mu, cultivated land covering 12,985 mu, and water surfaces totaling 6,500 mu. The Danqian River runs through the entire region. The area receives an average annual rainfall of 1,430.5 millimeters and enjoys a typical subtropical humid climate. With forest coverage exceeding 80%, the air is rich in oxygen ions, making it a natural oxygen bar.

Danqian is rich in mineral resources. The soil is abundant in selenium, and there are widespread and substantial deposits of minerals such as silica, fluorite, potassium feldspar, rare earths, tungsten, and copper. There is also high-quality mineral water that has passed provincial testing with all indicators meeting standards.

Danqian boasts unique and superior tourism resources. The area features picturesque landscapes, including the most beautiful reservoir lake along the thousand-li Gan River—Shangluo Huaguo Lake—where the winding lake channels, shimmering waters, and undulating green mountains create breathtaking scenery. The majestic Longshang Waterfall cascades down like a white silk ribbon hanging from a cliff, while the Zilin Three-Tiered Falls, with a drop of 180 meters, is a spectacular sight hidden deep in the mountains. Other attractions include steep cliffs ideal for rock climbing, the ancient tomb of Xu Gui, a Song Dynasty minister, the Donglin Temple—a Buddhist site built in the late Ming Dynasty, the vivid “Yue Fei’s Horseshoe Stone” from the Southern Song Dynasty, and the “Wumu天下太平” stone tablet with its powerful inscriptions. All these make for excellent sightseeing destinations.
