Martyrs' Tomb of Wang Zuo

The Martyrs' Tomb of Wang Zuo is a cultural tourism attraction, a classic red tourism site, and a patriotic education base.

The Martyrs' Tomb of Wang Zuo is located on the northern hillside of Dajing Village, adjacent to the Dajing Red Army Martyrs' Tomb on its left.

Wang Zuo was born in May 1898 in Xiavillage, Jinggangshan City. In his early years, he joined the local militia groups (known as "Green Forest" forces), later becoming the commander-in-chief of the Suichuan County Peasant Self-Defense Army. On October 24, 1927, he personally welcomed Mao Zedong leading the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Revolutionary Army to Jinggangshan at Xueexiaipai, the school ground at the entrance of Dajing Village. Afterward, he actively supported and devoted himself to the construction of the Jinggangshan Revolutionary Base. He joined the Communist Party of China in April 1928. During the Jinggangshan struggle period, he held several positions including deputy commander of the Second Regiment of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Revolutionary Army, deputy commander of the 32nd Regiment of the Red Fourth Army, director of the Hunan-Jiangxi Border Defense Committee, commander of the Red Fifth Army column, executive committee member of the Suichuan County Workers’, Peasants’ and Soldiers’ Government, member of the Military Commission of the Red Fourth Army CPC Committee, and member of the first and second Special Committees of the CPC Hunan-Jiangxi Border Area. He was one of the important early commanders of our army and a key leader of the Jinggangshan Revolutionary Base. He was martyred in February 1930 in Yongxin County.

In 1951, the people of Jinggangshan buried the remains of Martyr Wang Zuo here and erected a monument in his memory.
