Jinggangshan Xiangzhou Scenic Area

Xiangzhou Scenic Area is located 40 kilometers northeast of Ciping, covering an area of 3,400 hectares, including two sites — Luojing and Yanlingzhang. Both are natural landscapes. Luojing is known for its secondary primeval forests and high mountain gorges, offering the wild charm of pristine woodlands. Yanlingzhang, at an altitude of 1,488 meters, is famous for viewing sea of clouds, sunrises, and azalea forests.

Xiangzhou is considered the cradle of China's subtropical flora and fauna system and one of the birthplaces of the East Asian flora, as well as a paradise for rare animals.

The total area of Xiangzhou Scenic Area exceeds 3,400 hectares, situated in the eastern part of Ciping, about 30 kilometers from Ciping. The area is characterized by rugged gorges, magical secondary primeval forests, and rare trees and plants. There are over a hundred species of rare and nearly extinct plants within the scenic area, numbering in the thousands. These include Pseudotaxus chienii, Tsoongiodendron odorum, Parakmeria lotungensis, Emmenopterys henryi, Tsuga chinensis var. tchekiangensis, Magnolia cylindrica, Fokienia hodginsii, Styphnolobium japonicum var. mesnyi, Coptis chinensis, Dysosma versipellis, Panax japonicus, as well as unique species native to Jinggangshan such as Jinggangshan Ternstroemia gymnanthera, Jinggang Azalea, Rhododendron rubropilosum, and Jinggang Kiwifruit. Specific areas such as Beikeng and Gaowu’s Renchangmukien Forest, Michelia chapensis, and Ormosia xylocarpa; Xiping’s Elaeocarpus prunifolius, Castanopsis lamontii, and Taxus wallichiana var. mairei; along with fir, ginkgo, michelia, Magnolia cylindrica, and Styphnolobium japonicum var. mesnyi have been designated as protected zones within the Jinggangshan Nature Reserve.

Yanlingzhang in the scenic area, standing at 1,488 meters above sea level, is the third highest peak in the Jinggangshan Scenic Area. It features beautiful expanses of Taiwan red cypress and other rare flora and fauna. From its heights, you can gaze upon distant views of Wan’an and Ganzhou, making for exceptionally pleasant scenery.
