Martyrs' Cemetery of the Red Army in Dajing

The Martyrs' Cemetery of the Red Army in Dajing is a cultural tourism attraction and a classic red tourism site.

During the struggle in Jinggangshan, Dajing Village was once the residence of comrades such as Mao Zedong, -, Chen Yi, Peng Dehuai, and Teng Daiyuan. It also served as the headquarters of the Jinggangshan Revolutionary Base and the rear base of the Fourth Red Army. The folk song that was popular in the Jinggangshan area at the time — "Xingzhou is the prefecture, Ciping is the county, and the Greater and Lesser Wujing are the imperial palaces" — praises the important role Dajing played during the Jinggangshan struggle. In early 1929, after enemy forces from Hunan and Jiangxi provinces invaded Jinggangshan, they implemented a scorched-earth policy, declaring that "every stone must be chopped, every blade of grass must be burned, and the people must be wiped out." Dajing Village was burned down nine times, and many Red Army soldiers as well as local Party and government officials were killed.

In 1951, the People's Government of Jinggangshan District, Suichuan County, built this cemetery on the hillside behind Dajing Village to commemorate the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the revolution. The north-facing cemetery features a gate that is 2.66 meters high and covers an area of 100 square meters. Inside the cemetery lie the remains of more than 160 revolutionary martyrs who died heroically in Dajing. The cemetery gate is inscribed with a memorial plaque deeply expressing the grief of the people of Jinggangshan for the revolutionary martyrs.
