Huang'ao Battle Site

The Huang'ao Battle Site is a cultural relic protection unit of Jinggangshan City.

In early May 1928, during the first counter-"encirclement and suppression" campaign at the Jinggangshan Revolutionary Base, the Fourth Red Army employed a "feint to the east, strike to the west" tactic. Zhu De, Chen Yi, and others led the 28th and 29th Regiments to flank the enemy from behind and attack Yang Ruxuan’s forces. When the 29th Regiment arrived at Huang'ao Village, they encountered the enemy’s vanguard. After an intense battle, the enemy retreated to Huang'ao Street and attempted to hold their ground using the favorable terrain. Under the command of Chen Yi and Hu Shaohai, the 29th Regiment launched a three-pronged flanking maneuver and fierce assault, surrounding the enemy on all sides. The Red Army annihilated an entire battalion of the enemy’s vanguard in the areas of Huang'ao Street and Snake-shaped Hill, after which the 28th Regiment also achieved victory in the Wudoujiang Battle. Riding this momentum, the Red Army occupied Yongxin County for the first time.

In September 1988, the People’s Government of Jinggangshan City designated the "Huang'ao Battle Site" as a municipal-level cultural relic protection unit.
