The site where Mao Zedong announced the "Three Rules of Discipline" — Leidashi Rock

In 1927, Mao Zedong announced the "Three Rules of Discipline" on Jinggang Mountain, and the following year he introduced the "Six Points for Attention" in Suichuan. These later evolved into what we now know as the "Three Main Rules of Discipline and the Eight Points for Attention." With discipline as their foundation, our Party led the people across the nation in a bloody and resolute struggle, forging ahead and achieving glorious victories. In Jiangxi’s Jingzhu Mountain, there is a place called "Leidashi Rock." This is where Chairman Mao established those foundational rules.

On October 24th, under crisp autumn skies, Mao Zedong stood atop a large rock and addressed hundreds of worker-peasant revolutionary soldiers preparing to advance toward the heart of Jinggang Mountain. He urged everyone to maintain good relations with the local people and troops on the mountain, and then formally announced the Three Rules of Discipline: First, obey orders in all your actions; second, turn in all funds you raise to the public; third, take nothing from the people—not even a single sweet potato.
