Former Site of the Armory of the Fourth Red Army of China

The armory of the Fourth Red Army was located in a farmhouse in Dianshang Village, Ciping.

In the early days of the Red Army, there was no arms factory of its own, and weapons were mainly obtained from enemy forces on the battlefield to arm themselves. During the struggle on Jinggang Mountain, initially, repair workshops for weapons were set up. After the establishment of the Fourth Red Army, an armory was formed, with Song Qiaosheng serving as the head and Diao Huilin as the deputy. Over 30 gunsmiths were assembled from both the army and local areas, primarily responsible for repairing various types of weapons for the entire army to supply frontline troops in a timely manner. Thanks to the workers' efforts, shortly after the armory was established, it could not only repair all kinds of weapons but also manufacture spears, broadswords, and flintlock guns. Eventually, they were even able to produce single-shot rifles and "pine tree cannons." The workers worked day and night, taking the repaired or manufactured weapons to the back mountains for testing. Once verified as qualified, the weapons were immediately dispatched to the front lines, effectively solving the arms supply issues for the various units of the Red Army. On August 30, 1928, the mortar used in the defense of Huangyangjie was repaired at this armory before being transported to the battlefield. Workers at the Red Army armory also frequently helped local farmers repair sickles, hoes, and other agricultural tools, earning their praise. The armory not only strongly supported frontline combat but also aided agricultural production, thereby strengthening military-civilian relations.

On March 4, 1961, the State Council designated the “Former Site of the Armory of the Fourth Red Army of China in Ciping” as a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Ciping Town: Ciping Subdistrict is located in the central scenic area of Ciping within the Jinggangshan Scenic Area in Jinggangshan City, Jiangxi Province. It covers an area of approximately 3.8 square kilometers, with 6,036 households and a total population of 20,098 people (according to data from the Sixth National Population Census, including 14,459 permanent residents). The subdistrict has four community neighborhood committees. Administratively, it borders forest farms under the jurisdiction of the Jinggangshan Administration Bureau and the Jinggangshan Nature Reserve Management Bureau. To the west, it neighbors the Dajing Forest Farm; to the south, it is adjacent to the Zhusha Forest Farm; and to the northeast, it borders the Ciping Forest Farm.
