Mount Taiwu Scenic Area

Although Mount Taiwu stands only 253 meters above sea level, it is the highest peak in Kinmen. At its summit stands the "Never Forget Ju" monument, towering dozens of feet high, engraved based on the calligraphy of former President Chiang Kai-shek in 1952, making it the most iconic landmark in Kinmen.

Never Forget Ju

The "Never Forget Ju" monument is located atop Mount Taiwu. These four characters serve as a spiritual symbol for the military and civilians of Kinmen. Beneath the monument are the Zhongxing Pavilion and the Taiwu Pavilion, while to the east of the ridge lies the "Plum Garden" inscribed by Chiang Wei-kuo, planted with a hundred plum trees to enhance its charm.

The monument is about 4 zhang (approximately 13 meters) tall and 2 zhang (approximately 6.6 meters) wide. It was inscribed and bestowed by former President Chiang in the 41st year of the Republic of China (1952) during his inspection of Kinmen, symbolizing a reminder for all compatriots to learn from history and seize the opportunity to revive the nation.

Haiyin Temple

Nestled in the depression between the two highest peaks of Mount Taiwu, originally named Taiwu Rock Temple, it was first built during the Xianchun era of Emperor Duzong of the Song Dynasty. This ancient temple, with a history of over 800 years, has undergone several renovations. It was damaged by artillery fire during the August 23 Artillery Battle in 1958 (the 47th year of the Republic of China) and was rebuilt from 1960 (the 49th year of the Republic of China) to the present day.
