The cycling craze sweeps across Wudao Island with the Green Cycling Trail in Kinmen

The cycling tourism trend has spread across Taiwan, with outlying islands also launching eco-cycling activities. Organized by the Kinmen County Government, the "2012 Kinmen County Earth Environment Season Environmental Education – Green Cycling Trail" is divided into three sessions starting from April 22, with 150 participants per session. The routes cover attractions such as Kinmen National Park, Kinmen Kaoliang Liquor Inc., Juguang Tower, and Tianpu, a bird-watching spot. Registration for the first session is now open, allowing participants to embark on a cultural and ecological cycling tour of Kinmen.

The three sessions of the event are scheduled for April 22, May 12, and June 9, with 150 participants each and activity hours from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The first session’s route starts at the Kinmen County Environmental Protection Bureau, passing through the ancient settlement of Yangjiai, the Historical Relics Museum, and Kinmen National Park. The second and third sessions both begin at Kinmen National Park, taking cyclists through the Han Ying Yun Gen Stele at Guogang Lake, the Wen Tai Bao Ta pagoda built during the Ming Dynasty, the historic street known as the "No. 1 Street of Taiwan and Fujian," and Tianpu, where summer migratory birds like the collared finchbill can be spotted.

Registration for the first session is open now, while the second and third sessions will begin accepting registrations at 9:00 AM on April 25 and June 2, respectively, until full. The event is entirely free, and staff will accompany participants throughout. Cyclists must bring their own bicycles and helmets. For registration, call 082-313250 (daily from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM).
