Badalouzi

Badalouzi is located at the crossroads of Xizhai Village, Lieyu Township, Kinmen County. Built in February 1966 (the 55th year of the Republic of China), it is a castle-like two-story building several zhang tall. Atop the structure stand seven statues of soldiers, each holding a grenade and striking out in different directions, their heroic postures vividly lifelike.

A legendary and heroic battle story is associated with Badalouzi: During the War of Resistance Against Japan in 1933, a squad of seven infantry soldiers stationed at Gubeikou fought to cover the retreat of the 154th Regiment of the Great Wall forces. Vowing to hold their ground at all costs, they managed to eliminate hundreds of enemy troops and completed their mission. However, ultimately outnumbered, all seven soldiers died as martyrs.

In 1966, when the Great Wall forces were stationed on Lieyu, they specially reconstructed the original Badalouzi from the Great Wall era and erected statues of the seven anti-Japanese heroes. These statues stand guard at key passes including Shanhaiguan, Gubeikou, Xifengkou, and Jiukoukou—both to honor the martyrs and to inspire future generations to carry on their legacy.
