Within Yongchun County lies a truly memorable scenic spot — the Penghu Fairy Cave Scenic Area, praised by many as the “Penghu Wonderland.”
Penghu Fairy Cave is located in Penghu Town, approximately 30 kilometers from Yongchun County seat. Legend has it that thousands of years ago, both Buddhism and Taoism vied for this auspicious land, and so they divided it by cutting their robes — instantly transforming Penghu Fairy Cave into two peaks: one for building a Taoist temple and the other for constructing a Buddhist monastery. Atop the mountain lies a vibrant landscape where, amidst lush greenery, several rocks emerge — known as the Immortal Elder Stones, which, upon closer inspection, resemble an effigy of Laozi in seated meditation. With his hair tied in a topknot, clad in a long robe, right hand resting on his knee and left hand pointing into the distance, he appears to be expounding on the scriptures, guiding all living beings. In addition, the deities Shennong the Great and Mazu also reside in the mountain, allowing worshippers to pay their respects and seek blessings.
Meishan Village: Located in the northwest of Penghu, about 500 meters from the town government seat, Meishan Village enjoys convenient transportation and communication. The village covers a total area of 10,667 mu, with 21 villager groups, 1,308 households, a total population of 4,957, and 93 Party members. It consists of six natural neighborhoods: Xiandonglinjiao, Guanzhenqian, Pumian, Xiashen, Shipaikou, and Yangdang. The area features the national AAA-level Xiandong Pujie Scenic Area, the only temple in Fujian dedicated to Shennong the Great. The mountain is dotted with ancient trees and unique rocks, offering scenic views at every turn.
