Artist Introduction: A Fusion Bakery Near Yongchun Station Blending European, Japanese, and Taiwanese Styles

Mei Ji told Lao K that there’s a delicious bakery near the Yongchun branch — it was featured by Linda Chen on “Women’s Talk” (女人我最大). She asked him to pick up some bread next time he eats around there.

So Lao K went. This bakery is very close to the MRT station. Exit from Exit 4 of Yongchun Station, turn into the alley, and you’ll reach it in less than three minutes. But since it’s located in an alley, driving there is less convenient.

There’s a popularity ranking at the entrance for reference. Someone carelessly dropped cigarette butts down there — pretty tacky.

So many kinds of bread here: European, Japanese, Taiwanese, and more. Lao K grabbed a Honey Turkey for himself first XD

He picked a Pumpkin Carriage for Mei Ji, thinking it’d be festive for Halloween XD

This section is for Taiwanese-style bread. Lao K chose an Flaxseed Sausage Roll for himself too — he bought quite a lot XD

Here’s a massive Country Fruit Loaf. It looks even bigger than Wu Pao-chun’s award-winning bread.

Didn’t buy too much since he hadn’t tried them before — just these three items.

Flaxseed Sausage Roll (NT$32)
When he got home, Lao K immediately tried the Flaxseed Sausage Roll. The bread had a slightly flaky texture, somewhat like a croissant, but firmer and more elastic. The taste was pretty good. Paired with the smoky-flavored sausage, which was salty, chewy, and juicy, it was really tasty overall.

Honey Turkey (NT$55)
Because Lao K’s oven is small, he could only cut the bread and bake it in pieces.

After baking, it had a subtle honey aroma. Though the crust is thin, it’s quite crispy, while the inside remains soft. As you chew slowly, the sweet honey flavor emerges, though it’s not overpowering. Lao K thought it was quite delicious, and the size is pretty big — a woman might feel full after eating half. Also, it’s pretty affordable.

Pumpkin Carriage (NT$110)
Lao K didn’t try this one. It contains pumpkin mash and cheese. Mei Ji said it’s a bit on the Taiwanese side, and she didn’t like it XD

Lao K’s Tips:

Lao K thinks their bread is pretty good, though Mei Ji doesn’t like it because she’s not a fan of Taiwanese-style bread. Lao K, on the other hand, enjoys any bread that tastes good XD Their offerings lean a bit toward the Taiwanese style. The European bread has a slightly Taiwanese twist, and the Taiwanese bread speaks for itself. In terms of price and flavor, Lao K thinks it’s pretty decent. It’s not a must-visit, but worth checking out if you’re passing by. Aside from the Huilin branch near Yongchun Station, they’ve also opened a new store (Jinzhou Branch) near Zhongshan Junior High School. Bread lovers like Lao K should come take a look.
