5.7-hectare new green space by Bao Mountain Creek – an urban backyard garden with views of Taipei 101

Just about 2 kilometers away from the Taipei 101 shopping district, the Taipei City Government’s Public Works Department, Bureau of Urban Development, has created a new green space of approximately 5.7 hectares. This new area in the valley between Bao Mountain and Shi Mountain is filled with greenery and has become a high-quality urban backyard garden for the public.

According to the Bureau of Urban Development, the area is close to the Four Beasts Mountains, situated in the valley between Bao Mountain and Shi Mountain. To the east, it connects to the Hu Mountain Trail, and to the west, it leads to the Xiang Mountain Yongchungang Trail for mountain activities. Hikers can walk up the Bao Mountain Creek Trail to reach Bao Mountain, and many hikers use this as a transfer point along their trekking routes, with views of the iconic Taipei 101 landmark.

This land is a five-minute walk from Yongchun High School. Although it was previously overgrown and disordered, after restoring the forest landscape and natural ecology, and adding recreational facilities, it now attracts birds and insects. With its landscape of mountains, water, and the fresh scent of nature, the environment is full of greenery and vitality. The Bureau of Urban Development says it hopes this urban suburban backyard garden will provide citizens with a quality place for weekend leisure and connecting with nature.

Location: South side of Lane 15, Alley 650, Songshan Road, Xinyi District
Public transport: Take bus 20, 33, 299, or 286 to Yongchun High School Station, then walk about 450 meters along Lane 650, Songshan Road, to reach Bao Mountain Creek New Green Space.
