Taichung has unveiled another new waterfront attraction. The Taichung Water Resources Bureau has installed land art, a waterside walking path, and a three-dimensional text landmark along the left bank of the Fazih River between Yongchun East Road and the Taichung High-Speed Rail Station, creating an 1.8-kilometer "Gateway Welcome Waterfront Promenade" that combines riverside scenery with water-friendly spaces. Currently, the construction progress is 90% complete, and the site will open to the public in March.

The Fazih River is a centrally administered river. Some sections of its high gravel banks were previously overgrown due to their remote location. In line with a cooperative model of “central drainage improvement and local environmental enhancement,” the city government prioritized landscape development on the left bank of the river section from the High-Speed Rail Station to Yongchun East Road. Professional teams were invited to conduct ecological surveys before and after construction. With considerations for flood control, ecology, culture, and landscape, they created a world-class welcome river.

The overall landscape planning for the Fazih River is complete, and construction is in full swing on projects such as the levee-top walkway, land art, and planting. Among these, the gabion land art uses locally sourced materials—stacking and arranging the existing gravel from the Fazih River—stretching a total length of approximately 2 kilometers to create a uniquely local landscape. The entire landscape project is expected to be completed by the end of the year, providing a high-quality riverside view and water-friendly space.
