Fushantang – Former Site of the Logistics Department of the Fourth Red Army

Fushantang is the former site of the logistics department of the Fourth Red Army, located in Huanfeng Village, Hengkou Township, Yongchun County.

In August 1929, Comrade Zhu De led the Second and Third Columns of the Fourth Red Army along with the General Front Committee headquarters, totaling over 3,000 troops, on a mission to central Fujian. When they stationed in Fuding Township, Yongchun County (which includes the present-day Hengkou Township villages of Fuzhong, Fulian, and Huanfeng) for rest and recuperation, they set up the logistics department of the Fourth Red Army at Fushantang. At that time, the main hall of Fushantang was filled with rifles and silver. Soldiers from various companies came here to collect silver to buy rice and vegetables. Among those staying at Fushantang was a clerk surnamed Chen, as well as a couple (from Dapu) who served as interpreters for Commander Zhu De and the Red Army.

Legend has it that the village is surrounded by peaks, hence the name “Huanfeng” (surrounded peaks), which is a homophonic variation. Before 1949, it belonged to Fuding Township, Erdu.
