Wuping Dingguang Buddha Ancestral Temple
The Wuping Dingguang Buddha Ancestral Temple is a national AAA-level tourist attraction and a cultural tourism site.
The Dingguang Buddha Ancestral Temple is located in Yian Town, Wuping County. The scenic area centers around the temple dedicated to the statue of Dingguang Buddha and includes attractions such as Lion Rock and the Rice-Dispensing Stone. It is the place where the reincarnated body of Dingguang Buddha (whose surname was Zheng, given name Ziyan, originally from Tong’an District, Xiamen) attained Buddhahood. Before his passing, he was revered by the Hakka people for protecting their well-being and happiness, and was honored as the “Guardian Deity” of the Hakka people. It is the birthplace of the Dingguang Buddha faith.
