Red East Li Ancestral Hall

The Red East Li Ancestral Hall is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

The Red East Li Ancestral Hall is located in Hongdong Village, Pingchuan Town, Wuping County, dating back to the Qing Dynasty and the Republican era.

Description: Commonly known as the Snake-shaped Ancestral Hall, it was originally built during the Ming Dynasty and renovated in the Qing Dynasty and the Republican era. Facing south and situated to the north, it covers an area of 2,160 square meters, with a total width of 27.75 meters and a total depth of 19.7 meters, and has a built-up area of 536 square meters. It features a single-courtyard corridor style, consisting of an entrance hall, courtyard, main hall, and wing rooms on both sides, with an open space and pond in front. The main hall is three bays wide and nine rafters deep, with a flush gable roof.

Protected area: Extending 20 meters outward from the eastern, western, and northern exterior walls, and 25 meters outward from the southern exterior wall.

In 2018, the Red East Li Ancestral Hall was designated as part of the ninth batch of provincial-level cultural heritage sites by the People's Government of Fujian Province.

Hongdong Village: Hongdong Village is situated along the Pingchuan River, located in the central part of Pingchuan Town, Wuping County, and is the site of the Wuping County government. Provincial Highway 309 runs through the village, offering convenient transportation and a superior geographical location. It is also the former site of the old Wuping County seat. The village has a total population of over 3,700 people, with 19 villager groups, covering a land area of 3.5 square kilometers, including 1,651.3 mu of arable land, and has a labor force of more than 2,800 people.
