Location: Punan Village, Pumei Town, Yunxiao County

Introduction: Also known as Pumei Rock, Nanshan Temple covers an area of approximately 4,500 square meters. It was first built during the Hongzhi era of the Ming Dynasty (1488–1505) and has undergone multiple renovations since. The temple faces northeast and is situated southwest, with its main hall spanning five bays and featuring a hung roof with swallowtail ridges. To the west of the temple lies the Nanping Academy, which was established in the 20th year of the Guangxu reign during the Qing Dynasty (1894) to commemorate Lin Xiechun and his son. Key associated cultural relics include the Patriarch’s Spirit Pagoda from the first year of the Kangxi reign (1662), a monk’s tomb from the fifth year of the Guangxu reign (1879), and an inscription carved by Huang Daozhou reading “White Cloud Ancient Path.”

Protected Area: West to 20 meters beyond the drip line of the west gable wall of the Nanshan Temple management building; east to 50 meters beyond the drip line of the east gable wall of the Nanping Academy; south to 20 meters beyond the drip line of the main hall’s gable wall of Nanshan Temple; north to 50 meters north of the temple courtyard of both structures.

In 2009, Nanshan Temple and Nanping Academy were designated as part of the seventh batch of provincial-level cultural heritage sites by the People’s Government of Fujian Province.

Punan Village: Located to the south of Pumei Town and adjacent to Pudong Village, Punan Village sits alongside National Highway 324 and General’s Avenue.
