1. Fuji-Q Highland, Japan

The most interesting thing about the Fuji-Q Highland roller coaster is that its sudden drop doesn’t happen at the very beginning, but rather in the middle. Moreover, the drop isn’t completely steep or vertical, but at a 121-degree angle. Riders say that the feeling of dropping at an angle beyond vertical is quite surreal, as if you’re about to be flung out of your seat and launched into the air.

2. Millennium Force, Cedar Point, Ohio, USA

Opening Date:2000, height of 95 meters, 80-degree drop, top speed of 150 km/h, track length of 2010 meters.

In addition to the towering height of the roller coaster, Lake Erie next to the park also offers visitors an excellent vantage point. Mr. Lindy said that Millennium is his favorite roller coaster, giving him an amazing experience every time he rides it.

He said the best part is that from the roller coaster, you can see Canada across Lake Erie, and the ride is right by the lake. Every time you dive down, it gives you the illusion that you’re about to plunge into the water. That’s what I love most about this roller coaster. Since 2000, this ride has been ranked among the world’s top five roller coasters.

3. Busch Gardens, Tampa Bay, Florida

Opening Date:2005, highest point of 61 meters, top speed of 113 km/h, 90-degree drop angle.

This roller coaster is located in Tampa Bay, Florida. Mr. Lindy said the most unique aspect of this ride is that the seats give you the sensation of your feet dangling in mid-air, swinging back and forth.

As the coaster slowly climbs to great heights, it doesn’t suddenly drop. Instead, it slowly glides downward using the braking system, even pausing mid-air for a few seconds, forcing riders to look down toward the ground from high above — that’s when the screams reach their peak. Mr. Lindy says then the brakes release, and the train plummets straight down, sending riders diving through the surrounding forests and park attractions. That’s the most exhilarating moment for riders.

4. Justin Garvanovic/Kolmården Wildlife Park, Sweden

Opening Date:2016, highest point of 57 meters, top speed of 115 km/h, total track length of 1265 meters.

This roller coaster is one of the few entirely made of wood and is the only wooden roller coaster among the world’s top five. At the highest point, passengers get an incredible view of the park’s beautiful scenery, while anticipation and tension build up by the second.

Its drop angle is nerve-wracking enough to make your hair stand on end. Mr. Lindy says that besides the thrill, this roller coaster also offers a sense of relaxation because you can admire the stunning surroundings and dense forests from above — an unforgettable experience.

5. Yukon Striker, Canada’s Wonderland, Vaughan, Ontario

Opening Date:2019, highest point of 68 meters, top speed of 129 km/h, 90-degree vertical drop, the roller coaster plunges directly into an underwater tunnel, total track length of 1105 meters

This newly opened roller coaster not only takes riders straight into an underwater passage but also allows them to enjoy views of the entire park from the ride.
